Forensic Civil/Structural Engineer

|Description:||Job Duties & Responsibilities:|
∑ Conduct field investigations and analyze failures involving all types of structures and construction problems including residential, commercial and industrial properties
∑ Determine of the cause, origin, and extent of structural failures, water intrusions, construction defects and building system failures including envelope, roof, wall and glazing
∑ Assignments may include foundation settlement investigations, structural assessments, site evaluations, sub-surface investigations, vibration analysis, construction site accidents and building egress accident evaluations
∑ Analyze failures in buildings and other infrastructure systems by conducting site visits and applying engineering principles and practices in accordance with codes and industry standards
∑ Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients
∑ Responsible for retention and development of client relations
∑ Prepare oral and written reports in laymanís terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation.
∑ Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups.
∑ Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings.
∑ Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
∑ Minimum of B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering
∑ Minimum of eight (8) years of civil/structural experience
∑ Minimum of five (5) years of construction project management
∑ P. E. (Professional Engineer) registration required through testing
∑ Must possess strong writing skills
∑ Public speaking experience a plus
∑ Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
∑ Ability to lift 50 lbs.
∑ Ability to climb ladders and inspect roofs
∑ Ability to maneuver in and around buildings and in confined spaces
∑ Ability to drive to site locations
∑ Extensive forensic training
